The legend of Michael Jordan has been researched, documented, and discussed ad nauseam since 1985, but Assouline might've just put together the definitive chronicle of the Jumpman with Air Jordan.
Launched today in two editions—Ultimate and Classic—the book co-signed by Jordan Brand and "His Airness" himself celebrates 40 years of Air Jordan greatness. The chronicle (written by best-selling author Adam Bradley) includes anecdotes about MJ's industry-shifting partnership with Nike, Inc., as well as the six-time NBA champion's impact on sport and culture-at-large. Air Jordan shares rare archival material, exclusive photos of Jordan's own keepsakes, and a meticulously laid-out record of Jordan Brand.
The 62-year-old superstar authored the foreword in Air Jordan. Important figures in Jordan Brand history and a number of Team Jordan athletes provided interviews for the book.

The book's Ultimate Edition has been specifically crafted with collector's in mind. It's limited to just 1,000 copies, which have been hand-numbered. A Baroque-style clamshell cover draws inspiration from the laser graphic found on the Air Jordan 20, which was co-designed between Tinker Hatfield and Mark Smith.
Furthermore, each special edition of Air Jordan arrives with an Italian-made, oversized silk scarf to pay tribute to Michael Jordan's elegance and influence on luxury fashion.
A number of other collectible items are packaged with the Ultimate edition.
Air Jordan published by Assouline is available now via Assouline.com. The Classic Edition, which features a never-before-published photo of MJ taken by Annie Leibovitz, is priced at $123, whereas the Ultimate Edition retails for $2,300.
