Medal of Honor.
Back in November of 2016, just months before he left the Oval Office for the final time, Barack Obama went all-out on his final medal ceremony, handing out a record 21 Presidential Medals of Freedom. The medal is awarded by the President of the United States “for especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, or world peace, or cultural or other significant public or private endeavors”.
One of those lucky few to receive the honor from Barry was none other than Mike himself.
And what an impact he’s had on American culture.
We could go on and on (and on) about Michael Jordan’s greatness both on and off the court, but you already know. the stories. And like many stories told by Jordan Brand before me, this special moment in his life is one worth celebrating.
And there’s only one way we know how: in sneaker form.
So to kick off 2019, the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan 4, we present to you an honorary colorway that represents the physical medal of patriotic White, Metallic Gold, Navy and Red.
Such a pivotal and proud moment in Michael’s life, this is a story that needs to be told by Jordan Brand. If not now, then it definitely will be in the future — you can count on that.
