Mike spent just four seasons destroying the opposition at Chicago’s United Center — but what a hell of a four seasons they were. His career has been immortalized at the venue by a jersey hanging in the rafters, and a Jumpman statute parked out front. And while the latter has been honored by Jordan Brand, the building in which Mike dropped thousands of points, racked up hundreds of steals, brought home three of their six Championships and created a lifetime worth of memorable moments for Bulls and basketball fans alike has not. So today we celebrate the 960,000 square foot coliseum with a special edition Air Jordan 9 “United Center” Concept

The sneaker choice is obvious; the Air Jordan 9being the sneaker of choice for Michael Jordan’s infamous Jumpman statue on the premises. The warm-beige facade inspired this pair’s dusty upper, while white accents call upon the building’s vertical window pillars and awning for inspiration. Blue and white tongue branding hits are in reference to the building’s United branding, with slight-metallic flashes to the midsole, to represent the three Larry O’Briens the Bulls won during their tenure in the precinct. Finishing off the design, ever-so-slightly, are indentations on the upper’s overlays and tongues, which mimic the patterns found on the high square windows of the building’s main entrance. Simple and meaningful — that’s all it needs to be.
