Air Jordan 1 Prices Tipped to Rise in 2020
Everybody’s favorite Air Jordan 1 has been on a roll this year — and yet again, Jordan Brand is banking on the silhouette to bring in the big bucks in 2020. We’ve already previewed a handful of AJ 1 releases for next year, including the “New Beginnings” Air Jordan 1 OG program, which is said see the return of OG cuts paired with updated Zoom Air tech. And while the latter is expected to increase in price thanks to the change in tech, news surfacing today from ever-reliable @zSneakerheadz suggests that we might see an increase on the GR drops, too.

In 2020, Air Jordan 1 High OG drops may well be receiving a $10 increase, resulting in a base price of $170 USD:
Perhaps a preemptive move for Trump’s taxes, or in response to rising labor costs — or perhaps a move to increase revenue on the brand’s biggest seller — the move has all of the sneaker world peeved. Of course, rising prices is just one of those things that happens every so often, but still — eh.
This only highlights a point that former Jordan Brand designer Frank Cooke brought up last week, where he suggests that due to rising prices and tariffs, sneaker brands will need to be more selective of their design concepts and final releases to the market, as consumers will be more wary of the dollars they spend:

@frankcooker speaks out on the current state of the industry. This (and Frank, too) are the reasons I got into creating my own concepts years back. What we were getting didn’t align with what the market wanted. We’re not just open mouthed, waiting for every scrap that’s thrown our way. I wanted to put pressure back on the brands to deliver HEAT that’s not only aesthetically pleasing, but links into the culture at ground level. I hope the success of what we’ve done has helped move things along — but all I’ve seen since we started years back is waves of Travis Scott x Bape x Supreme x [insert clout brand here] “Concepts”. I’m hopeful that brands get more daring than that. It’s time the brands got proactive about things, because for far too long they’ve been reactive — and almost always what we wanted arrives too late.
