Despite the heavy focus on Jordan Brand’s heritage line, the Jumpman has never been afraid to break the shackles of their retrospective roots with modern, forward-thinking design. Of course, the brand still can’t completely break free from its past, with the brand’s DNA seeming to always find a way to shine through (just look at the recently-revealed Point Lane silhouette). This new women’s model, the Jordan Air Mae, is another example of how Jordan’s future and past often collide, with an obvious focus on the brand’s recent Flight Utility format infused with Air Jordan 3 ancestry.
Starting with the 1988 inspirations, the pair brings in a similar shape, with more obvious callouts at the perforated collar and sweeping mudguard. Rear overlays take a familiar form, mimicking the 88’s signature’s back tabs, too. From there, we can see Flight Utility themes roll in through lightweight, technical uppers, militaristic tongues, laces, and pulls — those helped along by an all-green coloring — and external text and numerals that channel FU models past. Underfoot is a moon boot-like tread, with heavy-duty traction, and Air Max Plus-like 7-bubble Air systems beneath.
A release date for the new Jordan Air Mae has as not yet been announced, but with official images appearing today, it’s likely that a release won’t be too far away. While we wait on more details, grab a detailed look at the pair here below, and be sure to keep our eyes glued to our official Twitter accountfor updates.
