    They earned their Wings.

For the past five years, the Jordan WINGS Scholars Program has been hooking up underprivileged youth with full-ride scholarships to college in North America and in Greater China.

By eradicating the financial burdens that come with tertiary education, this year’s 27 recipients have been given the opportunity to achieve greatness, and to open doors to a whole new life that would otherwise have been shut — and the key to that door is education. Jordan officially announced this year’ recipients of the WINGS scholarship; this Class of 2023, with an especially emotive video (below). Selected from a vast pool of applicants who identify as local leaders in school and in their community, and who also align with the principle of the program, the lucky 27 will commence their college journeys as early as this year.

Michael Jordan himself understood the power of education, and even after a stellar two years in the NBA, he ensured that he would complete his college degree, which he did in 1986.

Previously, Jordan Brand has released special edition footwear including the Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 12, with proceeds going directly to the scholarship fund. We too have created a special-edition sneaker for the occasion in our Concept Lab, an Air Jordan 6, which you can see right here.
