Back in January, it was revealed that the annual OSHU Doernbecher x Nike Freestyle event would be held virtually for the first time, in an effort to combat the effects and spread of COVID. Along with that information, it was revealed that those in virtual attendance would be among the very first to see and bid on the limited, special-edition offering — a singular shoe that commemorates 17 years of Doernbecher Freestyle by combining 14 different designs. At the time, not much was known of the sneaker, but the official OSHU Instagram account has been dropping breadcrumbs over the past few weeks, each showing minor elements of a sneaker. That sneaker is an Air Jordan 1 (of course), and it brings with it design cues from classic DB releases, including the 1, 3, 8, and more.
Though we will have to wait a few more days until its official unveiling, we’ve compiled a collage of the images here below to get the juices flowing. For now, though, all we can do is sit tight. Expect images and a detailed Nike News post to surface following the February 25th viewing.
Update 02.25.21 Following the event earlier tonight, a fully detailed look at the Doernbecher Air Jordan 1″ What The” has emerged. The pair is in honor of the 17th year of the program, and only 17 pairs of the sneaker were created, the first of which was just auctioned off alongside a custom lasered box during the Virtually Freestyle event on Feb. 25. The other 16 pairs will later be auctioned on eBay, and all proceeds from the sale of the Doernbecher Air Jordan 1 “What The” pairs will benefit OHSU Doernbecher patients and staff in a variety of different ways – from the delivery of advanced clinical treatment to the emotional support that helps to lift spirits and spread hope.As always, keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates.
