Jordan Brand was founded as, is, and will continue to be an imprint dedicated to the advancement of performance basketball footwear. And yet, throughout its 40-year history, the Swoosh sub-label has firmly cemented itself as a billion dollar player in the lifestyle space thanks to its retro business and high-profile collaborations. Both worlds are set to come together once again by December, as Swarovski is expected to rework the iconic Air Jordan 1 High OG.
The news was recently reported by Sneaker Files in collaboration with Instagram user @zSneakerHeadz, and comes after an initial leak regarding an Air Jordan 1 Low OG by Swarovski. Speculative mock-ups of both retros depict Peter Moore's 40-year-old designs in understated tones, with the taller silhouette opting for a "Vast Grey/Photon Dust" color combination. Neither official photos nor early in-hand shots can confirm the pair's presentation, but the aforementioned report posits that the original Air Jordan will launch with the Austrian brand's signature glass jewelry across profile swooshes. In any case, it's expected that the latest linkup between both institutions will be a lot tamer than some of their Air Max projects.
Stay tuned for firm release details and updates on Swarovski's Jordan 1 High. Expect the collaborative retro to arrive in limited quantities throughout December and with a price tag upwards of $1,000.
