Olympic figure skate champion Alysa Liu is the latest cultural figure to become a Louis Vuitton ambassador. The 20-year-old previously featured in campaign efforts for Nike, but her recent deal with the French luxury house catapults her beyond typical sportswear.
"Stepping into this new chapter as a Louis Vuitton ambassador is an honor and a privilege, especially for a figure skater to be recognized in this way, and I take so much pride in that," Liu shared in an official statement about the partnership.
The California-native has become the internet's sweetheart due to her on-ice grace, competitive grit, and quirky personality. Her personal style has also won over audiences as it serves as a reminder of self-expression within stuffy, traditional spaces like figure skating.
According to Nicolas Ghesquiére, Artistic Director of Women’s Collections at the French house, "Alysa Liu embodies the modern Louis Vuitton woman—confident, creative, and utterly fearless. Her dynamic energy and individuality resonate with the house's spirit, and she inspires us all to embrace audacity in every form."
The things that will come about from the new partnership are yet to unravel, but Louis Vuitton has shared that Liu will help "shape a narrative of grace, strength, and boundless innovation" as ambassador.
Away from the world of luxury goods, Crocs continues to expand its universe of comfort with partners like Disney.
