MSCHF is again stirring the pot with the introduction of their latest creation: the BIG BLACK BOOT. This new offering follows in the audacious footsteps of its predecessors, the BIG RED BOOT and the flamboyant BIG RED BOOT (Yellow) - both of which shook the internet to its core earlier this year in collaborations with Crocs. Yet, this time, MSCHF takes a step back from its typically vibrant palette, presenting what may be its most understated design to date.
Instagram sensation Javel Berlin initially teased this bold move in July, leading many to speculate that it was merely a custom spin on the original boot. However, MSCHF has since confirmed the authenticity of the BIG BLACK BOOT, promising a colorway that tempers the silhouette's inherent flamboyance with a more subtle aesthetic.
In their signature disruptive fashion, the independent label employed the prowess of social media influencers to pull back the curtain, revealing not just the boots themselves but their official packaging as well. Staying true to its Astro Boy-inspired, larger-than-life form, the BIG BLACK BOOT diverges from Crocs' take on the design, offering a unique interpretation that's all MSCHF.
Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of this release is including a "Patent Pending" card, hinting at MSCHF's intention to safeguard their creations in an industry rife with imitations. This move isn't surprising, considering the tidal wave of counterfeit renditions that emerged after the BIG RED BOOT's fame.
The BIG BLACK BOOT will be available strictly through mschf.com and the MSCHF Sneaker app, dropping at 2 p.m. EST on October 26.
Pairs will retail at $350.
