Grey, Black and Sail Color the Next Made in USA New Balance 990v4
New Balance's Made in USA collection has experienced a resurgence in demand, thanks in no small part to Teddy Santis. Since taking over in April 2021, the Queens-bred visionary has successfully managed to capture the modern audience, weaving traditional and avant-garde touches into the brand’s quintessential footwear.
The latest chapter in this success story unfolds with the unveiling of the New Balance 990v4. Dressed in an understated palette of grey, black, and white, the design balances subtlety and craftsmanship. Being part of Santis' Made in USA Season 4 lineup, it carries the promise and expectation of superior quality. Living up to that reputation, the sneaker showcases plush pig suede intertwined with durable fabric — a testament to the meticulous detailing synonymous with the collection.
Branding elements seamlessly blend with the overall design rather than vying for attention. They're rendered in soft grey hues, slightly lighter than their backdrop. Yet, the stark black contrasts throughout provide this silhouette depth and dimension.
The cushioning, a pivotal part of the 990v4's charm, hasn't been overlooked. While the heel area embraces a retro, worn-in look, the foam extending from the mid-foot to the toe is untouched and pure white. This juxtaposition of vintage and pristine is tied together by the outsole, echoing the black glimpsed beneath the suede layers on the upper.
Watch for the New Balance 990v4 Made in USA to drop soon at select New Balance retailers and via the NewBalance.com website for $210; Pairs are already available in select Asian markets.
