Stepping away from its collaborative efforts, for the time being, NB is getting back to basics and adding a New Balance 990v5 Made in the USA “Kool Grey” to its catalog. Emphasis is placed on its “Made” range that has re-modified the ’82 original with rejuvenated elements to bring the shoe into the modern era and boasts the premium collection contains a domestic value of 70% or greater.

The Modernised 990v5 presents a construction that consists of premium suede and mesh along the upper that has been expertly dressed in “Kool Grey” on a majority of the shoe, black on the heel, tongue and toebox panels around the segmented mesh. Underfoot is a tri-tone ENCAP sole unit containing white, black and grey to cement the overall monochromatic grey palette. Finishing off the design is a vertical American Flag on the tongue that is strikingly similar to Outkast’s “Stankonia” album cover.
