Nike Air Force 1 Low “Crane” is Coming on September 21st

A holy entity in Japan, the humble crane is a symbol of happiness and eternal youth. It also symbolizes good fortune and longevity because of its fabled life span of a thousand years. The crane is a favorite subject of Haiku poetry and the tradition of origami or paper folding. It’s a figure that is so ingrained in Japanese culture that it transcends the borders of its island nation. On occasion, it’s found it has way into footwear, and now it has appeared in the form of this Air force 1 Low “Crane” — one half of a special-edition pack which inclusive a matching pair for the turtle.

Notably known for its bright red head, crisp white features, and black wing liner, the silhouette tries its best to emulate the Japanese Red-Crowned Crane in appearance; white leather uppers with black trim and nylon tongues and a striking red headboard at the tongue do this with ease. Double-layered suede and leather Checks are an obvious call to the big bird’s wings, but there’s no more obvious call-out than the lateral ankle’s embroidery image: the bird itself, soaring.

A release date for this Air Force 1 Low “Crane” is yet to be revealed, but retailers in Asia are citing a Summer release.
