Though, as busy as Bees are, Fall and Winter are not typically considered their heavy-lifting season. But for residents of England’s Manchester, the symbol is a year-round reminder of the locals’ work ethic, and the city being a figurative hive of activity. The Manchester worker bee has been an emblem for the city for over 150 years, and now it will be attributed upon the humble Air Force 1

The pair arrives with a honey-tinted upper spread across both tumbled leather and fine suede, the latter covering the bulk of the construct, save the mid panel and rear overlay. Swooshes arrive in rich chocolate leather and is contrasted by the off-whites of the midsole, laces, and hex-patterned tongues and liners. Special details include embroidered Manchester Bee motifs at the lateral ankle, debossed honeycomb patterns at the medial heel, and “0161” tags on the tongues lateral side — a reference to the city’s phone code. Completing the design is a cement grey rubber outsole and honey-tanned insoles

It’s fitting for the chain, which houses its HQ in the city, and is also the location of one of their very first expansion stores.
