Decorative embroidery is a rarely-used tool in Nike’s extensive arsenal of design, but when it does appear, it’s always done tastefully, and with expert execution. With the embellishment rooted in Chinese culture, decorative embroidery is often reserved for special, Chinese-theme releases, the next no different, with the pomegranate also having a storied connection with the country. Now, in addition to the previously-previewed Nike Blazer Mid, this Nike Air Force 1 Low “Pomegranate” honors the humble fruit, which serves as many things; It’s the emblem of the tenth month of the traditional calendar and the sixth of the lunar calendar; its decorations are often gifted as a traditional wedding present, and its touted by Buddha as a symbol of fertility

Though not pictured in these first looks, the fruit-bearing tree arrives stitched over the top of the full canvas tongue, while further details on the fruit is again provided at the heel, including the scientific name, where it’s commonly found, and more.. Canvas continues onto the tan Swoosh overlays and black mid panels, while classic leathers return at the quarter, toe, and eyestay. Lightly flecked white midsoles arrive in a piercing white, while a dark cinder rubber outsole underfoot completes the design.

A release date for the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Pomegranate” is yet to be revealed, but you should expect to see these hit stores over the next few months.
