Nike Air Force 1 Low “Sashiko” Arrives February 2nd
The ill-fated Tokyo 2020 Games caused monumental headaches for footwear brands who had planned some epic Olympic-themed releases to coincide with the event. Fortunately, for Nike at least, the majority of their drops weren’t too obviously aligned with the Olympics, but more on theme with the host nation and its culture. That means releases like the Air Jordan 4 “Sashiko” could slot in easily amongst a regular release schedule — Olympic Games or not. And just when we thought that the calendar year closed the book on the repurposed releases, another has appeared, again in the aforementioned thematic, with this Nike Air Force 1 Low “Sashiko” appearing today.
The traditional mismatched aesthetic arrives in its signature white and navy hues, with each panel featuring its own unique finish for an overall patchwork effect. Toe boxes are split between a medial stripe design and a lateral blizzard-like marl weave, with the two textiles returning again to the lateral mid-panel, and medial quarter panel respectively. Toes are then capped in an oversized basket weave-like finish, one that is replicated in a finer finish at the lower portion of the mid panel. LAteral quarters are covered in a bubble-textured weave, before suede overlays of white and bone grace the Swoosh, eyelets, and rear. The latter is finished with golden Kanji motifs — a finish that is channeled at the forefoot by-way-of Mini Swooshes and special-edition dubraes. Completing the design is the use of striking red-on-white branding at the tongue and insole as a nod to the national flag, and more Kanji graphics underfoot that peer through a fully-translucent outsole.
Though a release date for the pair has not yet been set, pairs are expected to arrive early this year. Until further details arise you can grab an official look at the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Sashiko” here below, and be sure to keep your eyes locked on our official Twitter account for updates.
