Available Now // Air Max 90 “Exeter Edition”

Nike’s well-documented focus on sustainability has lead to an abundance of eco-friendly footwear options over the past 12 months, most of which are instantly recognizable by a handful of shared characteristics. Most famously of the lot is Nike’s color-flecked grind rubber sole units which have featured prominently on a slew of Nike classics, including the Air Force 1, Air Max Plus, and the Air Max 90. Now it returns once again to the latter for a special series dubbed the “Exeter Edition” — a collection inspired by Swoosh employee Jeff Johnson’s 1974 trip to New Hampshire that sprouted the brand’s first recycled shoes.

It’s expected to be an extensive collection, and it’s lead by three iterations of the Air Max 90. The two adult releases follow a theme of white and neons, with one opting for a black, white, and neon green finish, the other in all-white and volt. Both share similar design traits, including split-stiched mudguard overlays in recycled textile, dual-layered Swooshes, vibrant highlighter hues at the liners, and the aforementioned grind rubber finish underfoot. The third release, a grade school-sized pair, arrives mismatched, arriving in one black and one white shoe, borrowing from each of the adult options above. The kids’ pair takes the sustainability a step further by adding recycled material to the eyelets and rear overlays, too.

Though a drop date has not yet been confirmed for the collection, you should expect to see pairs rolling out at select Swoosh stockists for Spring.
