Nike Air Max 95 “Japan” Lands March 19th

As one of the most celebrated and embraced Nikesilhouettes in Japan, the Air Max 95 is annually awarded a handful of regional-exclusive releases as a little thank you from Beaverton. The connection between Nike and Japan goes way back to their formative years, as does the Air Max 95 silhouette, which was embraced by Japan’s streetwear culture from day dot. Earlier this year we saw a trio of exclusives arrive for the silhouette’s 25th anniversary, including the Air Max 95 “Spring Flower”, “Cherry Blossom” Air Max 95s, and the “Mt Fuji” Air Max 95 Utility. For 2021, the tradition continues with this, the Nike Air Max 95 “Japan”, of which a first teaser look has landed.

Though tough to establish its layered upper, it appears to feature panels of convenience store-style branding collage, with katakana text seemingly placed at random throughout — all of which looks to sit under a TPU overlay. Tongues follow the direction of the upper — again appearing with a balayage of prints — and are capped with black leather trim to match that found at the toe cap. Further splashes of black are found at the liner and outsole, the latter resting below an orange-flecked midsole unit filled with both neon orange and volt Air supports. Completing the design are reflect-finished white ribbon eyelets, white laces, and a classic orange Swoosh at the lateral ankle.
