Nike Air Max 95 “Mugunghwa” Celebrates Korean Spring Festival

Korea’s long-standing fixation with flowers is something of beauty. It’s so ingrained into their culture, that Nike has oft looked to its native flora for footwear inspiration. In fact, around this time last year, the nation received a forsythia-clad velcro Air Max 95 “Pollen Rise” that celebrated the incumbent Spring season. This year, they’ll be focusing their efforts on the Korean national flower for the celebration with the native hibiscus inspiring this soft-hued Nike Air Max 95 “Mugunghwa”

The pair features Korea’s hibiscus blossom as a small graphic printed on the heel and hidden away on the insole in which the overarching theme is drawn. Uppers of dusty pink suede work with tonal mesh uppers liners and tongue to mimic the flower’s pastel pink petals, while a sparingly-used rich red rides the rear Swoosh as a nod to the flower’s central eye. The flower’s pistil, which arrives in a light yellow-pink, is channeled here on the solid-color sole units underfoot to complete the elegant design.

Though pairs are already available at Nike Korea, it’s uncertain if we will see a release of the Nike Air Max 95 “Mugunghwa” elsewhere around the globe. Until more news arrives — if any — you can enjoy a detailed look at the pair here below, and be sure to keep your eyes locked on our official Twitter account for further updates.
