OG Post // Is this a first look at the Nike Air VaporMax 2021? Though it simply may be a variation of the 2020, a completely retooled lacing system and other minor changes — along with the silhouettes expected March debut just weeks away — suggests that this new sneaker may be Nike’s newest marquee VaporMaxmodel.
While aesthetically similar to last year’s release, there are a few adjustments for the 2021 model; Gone is the Flyease tightening system in favor of a traditional lacing system (thank God), and with it comes utilitarian-inspired eyelet overlays and a brand-new knitted tongue. Heel clips and toe caps appear to have ditched the marbelized finish, the former now void of its bulky pull contraption. The midfoot Swoosh is now stitched on in more traditional styling, here with a thick embroidered edge. Most other things, including the weave, sole unit, and overall shape remain unchanged.
The first colorway to appear is a vibrant one, with neon pink, volt, peach, and light blues all working across slightly brown-tinted marl grey upper, and a fully-translucent VaporMax outsole.
Update 04.13.21 Retailers Finish Line have confirmed a debut date for the Nike Air VaporMax 2021 for May 6th. This pair, along with the recently-revealed “Oreo” colorway will be released from 10 am ET on the day.
