When Phil Knight sat down to approve his unnamed Nike basketball sneaker in the mid-1970s, I don’t think even he knew just how big it would be four decades later. He named it the Nike Blazer after his hometown NBA franchise, and its hardwood history has served as an inspiration for many of its modern-day drops. The next pair to do so is this vibrant being, one which pairs the OG White/Black build with come colorful embellishments.
Gradient midsoles ostensibly honor the colorful streetball courts from around the globe — think Pigalle — while hand-written notations on the shoe may likely channel street graffiti as much as it does a coach’s whiteboard-drawn plays. A special hoops illustrated figure rests at the left heel and across both tongue tags — the latter in a hologram. Further graffiti styling is used on the insole branding, and the design is completed by a flutter of paint flecks through both the midsole and laces.
Though a release date for the pairs has not yet been set, both are expected to arrive early this year.
