Just the other day, whilst covering this colorful Nike Blazer, that we discussed the lull in Nike’s DIMSIX division releases. And now, right on cue, the exploratory subdivision of the Swoosh has unloaded an all-new silhouette, the Nike D/MS/X Sting. Old heads may recognize the name, as it does arrive inspired by a late-70’s silhouette of the same name, although its presence in modern-day sneaker culture is null. That will change though, with this revamped effort of the 1978 release.
The low-profile construction comes split into two parts; a Pine Gren-repping ripstop in the rear, and forefoot shrouds in Starfish suede. Eyelets are split into two distinct sections, too, with the upper three featuring D rings, whilst that lower trio opts for a traditional hole-punch. Underfoot you’ll find futuristic tweaks, with a semi-divided midsole featuring rolling waves and sweeping plastics accompanied by classic gum waffle rubber outsoles. Classic exposed-foam tongues and rear overlays are capped with retro-inspired Nike and DIMSIX branding respectively, and the pair is complete with rear suede paneling, striking white leather Swooshes, and bright blue insoles.
