Dutch graphic artist Piet Parra’s link-up with the Swoosh for the first-ever Skateboarding event at the Olympic Games was top shelf. But would you expect anything less from the long-time Nike collaborator? His incredible “Abstract Art” Nike SB Dunk Low was no accident, though, with the pair a result of a long-winded process in which derived quite a few samples — some of which were recently teased by a close friend.

Shared by @w03i on the ‘gram were just four of the likely many pairs that didn’t make the cut, including two white and black-based options, as well as a vibrant pink suede number. All three feature the final product’s abstract print at the mid panel, some under netted sheaths. There’s also the introduction of an organic black and white pattern that’s reminiscent of futuristic 60s psychedelic.

Though teasers were just that — teasers — you can get a fairly good video of what Parra was trying to achieve, and how we ended up at the final retail release. See for yourself via the images below, and although you shouldn’t expect to see these samples get a retail release of these, pairs may well pop up on the aftermarket from time to time.
