Recycled Wool Reappears on the Air Max 90 “Black/Electric Green”

Through the abundant Air Max 90 releases we saw in 2020, it’s a bit of a surprise that we didn’t see more of a push from Nike’s sustainability agenda. Though this may change as we head into 2021 and beyond, with the brand’s recurrent use of recycled wool now making its way to the silhouette.

It joins the previously-previewed options of the Air Max 95, Air Force 1 Low, and Blazer Mid, both of which feature the same recycled marl-grey yarn. Here, like the aforementioned, it arrives at the in-cut Swoosh and tongues, with its muddled appearance somewhat mimicking the full-length grind rubber outsole. It’s surrounded by an all-black build of textile and leather while striking Electric Green accents at the forward eyestays, rear exposed stitching, Air cassettes, and insoles. Saving on plastics, the pair tacks on more wool at the rear overlay and embroidery the ankle brand panel instead to complete the design.

Though a release date did not accompany the official image set below, you should expect to see a rollout of this recycled Nike Air Max 90 hit select retailers alongside the other similarly-designed silhouettes in the coming weeks. So while we await further details, grab a detailed look at the pair here below and be sure to keep our eyes glued to our official Twitter accountfor updates.
