The Nike Air More Uptempo is not exempt from Nike’s fascination with experimentation. Nor is it safe from any of the brand’s sizable Nike Sportswear collections that often shift themes from sneaker to sneaker. This new Serena Williams Design Crew x Nike Air More Uptempo “Denim” belongs to both categories, as it joins a long list of experimental designs from the tennis GOAT.

Here, the titular dyed twill decks out the pair’s upper, with tonal ribbed tongues and blued-out sole units serving as the pair’s base. Bright whites pop on the tongue, liners, and laces, as well as the AIR letter underlays; The latter is then dressed up in denim one more, complete with striking neon contrast stitching. Here, though, it’s done so in a haphazard manner, with missing cut-outs, tack stitching, and torn-away pieces. That pair is then competed by sashiko-style capping at the heel and toe, with the former fitted with a bulbous, cracked white Swoosh to complete the design.
