The Air Force 1‘s ability to reinvent itself is something we talk about on an almost daily basis. The frequency of that discussion is in direct correlation to the amount of fresh new takes we see on the silhouette; most of the time, that’s on a weekly basis. We’ve seen the Air Force 1 take on every material under the sun, from leather to suede, chenille to corduroy, the Uptown has sure seen its fair share of fabrics. This pair, however, takes on a material that was so specific to the period in which the sneaker birthed; were surprised we hadn’t seen more of it.
We’re talking about velour — a textile seen on everything in the early ’80s, from hats to tracksuits, to dinner suits and everything in between.
