And while we’ll have to wait until next year for the Summer Games, we won’t have to hang around much longer for the release of the recycled pack of self-labeled “Trash” sneakers, with the debut collection of five pairs touching down on July 3rd.

Claimed to be made of at least 50% recycled material by weight, the pairs collectively boast Space Waste Yarn uppers, which uses approximately 85% polyester recycled from plastic bottles, clothing, and yarn scraps. Underfoot, the Crater Foam sole unit — which is also set to arrive on the Waffle Racer in the near future — creates not only a stable ride and unique aesthetic, but also decrease the brand’s carbon imprint. Finally, insoles are made from ZoomX foam scraps, surplus from the game-changing NEXT% line. But it’s not all about the lineage’s sustainability, it’s designed, too, speaks volumes for the futuristic fascination of the modern market. If Hippe is to sustainability, Space is to the line’s interstellar aesthetic. with oversized sile units, sock-like uppers and technical design, the pairs arrive on-par with other recent projects in the Nike catalog, including JoyRide and Jordan Brand’s Flight Utility range.
