LaMelo Ball has been listed on the injury report for handfuls of games throughout the 2024-25 NBA season. And while it's unsure whether or not he'll play tonight against the New York Knicks, his latest PUMA MB.04 makeover reminds us all of what a joy the Charlotte Hornets guard is to watch.
Seemingly inspired by his on-court, dance-like movements, the next proposal from the Big Cat's Hoops division reimagines the youngest Ball Brother on the set of Saturday Night Fever. Akin to other thematic releases from the PUMA MB series, the newly-surfaced performance model features a shoe-specific graphic on the spine. This particular one showcases a dancing LaMelo in a similar style as Apple's Man Dancing emoji. Its garbs are disco-inspired, but the figure is making a 3-pointer sign with its hands—all while wearing some PUMA sneakers.
The remainder of the basketball silhouette indulges in a tamer color scheme than previous MB.04 drops without sacrificing the extraterrestrial themes central to Ball's signature line. Tentacle-reminiscent overlays across the upper and midsole introduce a shimmering, gradient finish that features shades of blue and purple. Tattoo-inspired branding on the tongue opt for iridescent finishes that further contrast the shoe's black-colored components. The outsole keeps things stealthy, although a 1 found within space ship-shaped traction enjoys a vibrant pink finish that signals the 23-year-old's uniqueness.
Enjoy detailed shots of Ball's next playful MB.04 below. Firm release details haven't been disclosed by the brand as of yet, but pairs are expected to hit PUMA.com by June. The shoe is priced at $135.
