PUMA Celebrate 30th Anniversary of the ’89 Pistons with a Special “Finals” Release of Isiah Thomas’ Palace Guard
30 Years to the Day!
Among the many hidden Basketball gems in the PUMA Hoops archive, the Palace Guard is arguably most enticing. Originally worn by the former Detroit Pistons point guard, NBA Hall of Famer and 12-time All-Star, Isiah Thomas, the Palace Guard helped Isiah Thomas secure back-to-back championships in 1989 and 1990. And now, PUMA Hoops are honoring the legend with a special 30th Anniversary edition of his signature sneaker dubbed “Finals.”
Sporting a Pistons palette of royal blue, white and red, the pair mimics the road jersey’s of the ’89 Detroit squad, the strip they were wearing when they secured the sweep of the Lakers in Los Angeles, putting an end to the hopes of a purple and gold three-peat. Metallic gold is unleashed on the oversized tongue detail, insoles and heel branding hits, while red PUMA lettering and visible CELL underfoot complete the design.
Grab an official look at the special edition colorway below, with pairs available directly from PUMA.com on June 13th — 30 years to the date that Thomas won his first NBA Championship.
