PUMA Knock Out a Knicks Colorway of the Palace Guard
Available Now!
Among the many hidden Basketball gems in the PUMA Hoops archive, the Palace Guard is arguably most enticing. Originally worn by the former Detroit Pistons point guard, NBA Hall of Famer and 12-time All-Star, Isiah Thomas, the Palace Guard helped Isiah Thomas secure back-to-back championships in 1989 and 1990. This year sees the sneaker’s 30th anniversary, and with it, we’ve seen an array of colorways both old and new — and here’s one more of the latter, with a “Knicks” colorway that honors the many battles the Hall of Fame guard had with the nearby New Yorkers.
Sporting a Knicks-natured palette of white, royal blue, and orange, the pair mimics the home jerseys of the world-famous Knickerbockers — an eerily similar makeup to the iconic Ewing Athletics 33 OG. The all-white leather and mesh upper arrive with perforated detail at the toebox and mid panels, before migrating to mesh at the heel. Orange and blue flashes arrive at the tongue branding, upper eyelets, liner and heel detail, while an orange-streaked midsole and blue rubber outsole complete the design.
