PUMA’s Uproar Palace Guard and Palace Guard OG Both Release Today!

PUMA’s Uproar Palace Guard and Palace Guard OG Both Release Today!

Past and present.

It’s no secret that PUMA has been out of the hardwood game for a minute, but they’ve made one hell of a reentry to the market in 2018/19, signing some big-name young guns and dropping some seriously good hoop shoes, like the Clyde Court and the recently introduced Uproar. Most sneakerheads know about the OG Clyde, but there’s a period in the middle that’s a little hazy for the youngins — and PUMA want to do a little schooling.

Bridging the gap between its storied past and future potential, PUMA is not only re-releasing the OG 90s Palace Guard, but also an all-new Uproar rendition of the original colorway. Named and themed in honor of a legendary NBA arena, The Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit — a venue where the Pistons dominated shortly after moving in in the late 80s, winning two NBA Championships in ’89 and ’90.

Now that PUMA has re-entered Basketball after some 20 years of absence, it’s the perfect time to pay homage to their heritage and to educate the next generation of Sneakerheads that PUMA, have always known about style on and off the court.

The OG pair arrives in all of its original glory, from perforated leather on the instep to the textured heel panels, with the 2019 model bringing a revamped approach. Fitted with Trinomic technology on the heel and a padded collar for enhanced comfort, the microperforated toe and quarter panel provide additional cushioning. Completing the look is a 3D Basketball logo on the tongue and a red and blue color scheme that shouts out Detroit hoops..

To roll out the shoe, PUMA Hoops athletes will debut the sneakers on court across cities around the country and in the place that inspired it – Detroit. Further, multiple Detroit legends will also wear the shoe alongside PUMA’s athletes and at activations to showcase the bridge between past and present.

With that said, Raptors guard Danny Green sported both sneakers before and during the Toronto Raptors v. Detroit Pistons game earlier in the week (above)

Both the Palace Guard OG and the Uproar Palace Guard drop in-stores on Friday, March 8. The OG is priced at $90, while the Uproar is $130.
