The Rhuigi Villaseñor x PUMA Suede Releases April 1st
RHUDE owner and Bally creative director Rhuigi Villaseñor has reignited his partnership with PUMA to introduce a fresh take on the classic Suede silhouette, ostensibly inspired by the breakdancing scene of the early 1990s.
One of the most striking features of the new PUMA Suede is its flat, fat laces, which lend the sneaker a retro feel that harks back to the early days of hip-hop and breakdancing. The upper is made of high-quality suede, which is rendered in a soft pinkish hue that really pops, making the sneaker a standout choice for the warmer months.
On the lateral side of the sneaker, PUMA branding has been given a shimmering golden finish, which adds a touch of luxury to the design. The stripes on the sneaker have been kept relatively low-key, with a cream hue that complements the pink upper. The colorway is then cemented by tonal sail tints on the sole and heel — the latter reading “1991” as a replacement for the traditional branding. The backstory behind this choice hasn’t been shared.
