JJJJound Cover the Reebok Classic Nylon in Grey Suede
Montreal's JJJJound studio is back with Reebok, reinventing the Classic Nylon silhouette with an intriguing 1980s twist. This collaboration remains true to both brands' ethos, merging heritage with contemporary sensibilities.
Drawing inspiration from the color palettes of 1980s computer rooms – a blend of greys, taupes, and beiges – the collaboration pays homage to an era of technological boom. This color scheme has been a staple in JJJJound’s previous works for Reebok, although it has drawn mixed reactions from the sneaker community for its minimalist approach. Despite this, JJJJound has consistently won over a dedicated following thanks to its intentionally simple and aesthetically pleasing designs.
The grey-dominated JJJJound Reebok Classic Nylon features a mix of traditional materials: nylon, suede, and leather. The design stands out with its titular grey tone enveloping most of the upper, while stark white Vector branding and EVA midsoles offer a crisp contrast reminiscent of the sneaker's iconic look. A unique touch is added with the yellow-tinted nylon tongue, aligning with the ongoing "Neo-vintage" trend in footwear.
In a subtle yet impactful branding twist, "JJJJound" text replaces the usual Reebok branding on the side, emphasizing the studio’s influence on this heritage design. The sneaker is presented in a white-colored shoe box featuring co-branded elements, and a dark grey outsole completes this retro-inspired piece.
The collaboration drops first on JJJJound.com on December 7th at 12pm EST, followed by a broader release on Reebok.com and other global outlets on December 14th, priced at $150 USD.
