A big part of the Allen Iverson attraction has always been his style. He brought unprecedented swagger to the NBA hardwood, and soon after, his sneakers followed suit. In fact, just one year after the Reebok Question debuted in 1996, the Bok dropped a striking black and metallic gold release that was a nod to Bubba’s love of the nightlife. Nine years on (2006), Reebok returned with a special-edition “10th Anniversary” release of the colorway — and again in 2012 with a celebratory “New Year’s Eve” release that cemented the color scheme as one of the bonafide classics of the Question line. For 2022, we’ll see the scheme returns once more, though this time around it’s elevated to a much high status.
Though the blocking is almost identical to those before it, the 2022 Reebok Question Mid “Black/Gold” ditches thigh high-gloss toe caps and heel panels for something much more upscale: suede. Not only that, the entire medial side of the shoe is now dressed in the soft shaggy textile. And whilst the lateral side retains a leather construct, it’s now is elevated further through a soft buttery finish. Add to that the inclusion of 3D metallic gold tooling at the midfoot and heel badge over the OG’s simple threadwork, and you’ve got an absolute gem.
