The “Sports Illustrated”Jordan 1 is Releasing for the Holidays
A Star is Born.
Jordan Brand will be releasing an upcoming Air Jordan 1 Sports Illustrated colorway as a nod to Michael Jordan’s first Sports Illustrated cover as a Bull, which went to print during his rookie season.
He was of course on there two times beforehand, one repping UNC, the other Team USA.
Essentially it’s just a white and black Air Jordan 1, but the detailing on the Swoosh mimics the side panels of the old Milwaukee Bucks jerseys, which was the team MJ was dominating on his cover shot (below).
The leather looks to be cut from the same cow as the Satin Shattered Backboards, which have half the sneaker community drooling, the other half reminding us it looks like scrunched up toilet paper (and that it needs to stop). Sneakerheads have also been calling for JB to stop reaching for inspiration, with this and the Rookie of the Year Shirt scraping the bottom of the barrel.
We’re just over here waiting for “Mike’s Lucky Underwear” 5’s.
The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Sports Illustrated” is due to hit stores for Holiday 2018 for $160.
More details will be sure to follow.
