It’s safe to say things have come on in bunds for Under Armour’s basletball division over he last 9 years. Since they first dipped their toes into the basketball market way back in 2010 with the Micro G, thing have gone from good, to great to killing it. The signing of Steph Curry in 2013 was instrumental, and sales have been booming ever since — well, they’ve dipped back down a little since the introduction of Boost Basketball and Nike’s continued dominance.
But it hasn’t always been roses for the Baltimore-based brand, as OKC guard Terrence Ferguson describes;
“I’ve been with Under Armour since I was sixteen. I’ve been with them through all the ups and downs, I’ve been through it all. The first time I ever put on Under Armour, I felt like I was walking on brick. It was super heavy, the style was not all the way there, it was not the best looking shoe. Now, as you can see a few years later, they are super flavorful, there are so many flavors and so many different styles. The comfort level is top notch, their improvement over the years has definitely big, definitely huge.”
But there’s been nothing as huge as the brand’s recent HOVR tech — and this is the shoe we’ve been waiting for. Introducing the Under Armour HOVR Havoc, the first UA basketball sneaker to incorporate their latest technology, which was first utilized on the brand’s running shoes. For those of you who haven’t experienced the cushioning system, It’s considered in the same tier as Boost and React technologies. It’s dope. And the aesthetic is, too.
The Hovr Havoc Low (below) will be released for $105 on August 31 alongside the Hovr Havoc Mid for $115 at UnderArmour.com
