Born X Raised Unveils Vans Authentic 44 Collab in Mexico City

Los Angeles-based brand Born X Raised has taken a liking to Mexico City. In addition to working with New Era on another Diablos Rojos project, the team's recent trip south included a takeover of House of Vans CDMX to unveil an upcoming Vans Authentic 44 collaboration.

This isn't the first time Born X Raised has worked with the "Off the Wall" Brand; over the years, the original action sports footwear company has helped bring the Venice Beach and Vernon-informed label's legendary Sadie Hawkins Winter Formal events to life. Some of these community gatherings have been commemorated with special pairs of the Authentic 44 and Old Skool 36, but the shoe previewed in Mexico is expected to be available to the public.

Born X Raised, rooted in LA, has been inspired by Chicano culture. As such, it shares a connection to and appreciation for Mexico. The unreleased Vans Authentic 44 puts this on display by way of several nods to the country and graphic elements that can resonate with consumers in Mexico and the U.S. The full extent of the new collab's backstory hasn't been disclosed by the brand as of writing, but it's likely the "DIY"-like Vans reference handmade rotulos, graffiti, and other artistic expressions.
