Nicole McLaughlin and Vans are set to release their latest collaboration, the Vans x Nicole McLaughlin Slip-On RS, a project that merges functionality, sustainability, and playful design. Known for her innovative upcycling and conceptual approach to fashion, McLaughlin has infused this collection with a blend of outdoor aesthetics and multi-purpose utility, crafting a sneaker that pushes the boundaries of footwear design.
The Slip-On RS takes inspiration from vintage hiking packs of the 1970s, featuring a rucksack pocket at the toe and adjustable nylon webbing, offering both storage and adaptability. Constructed with 40% recycled canvas and treated with PFC-free DWR waterproofing, the shoe is built to withstand the elements while promoting eco-conscious production. Underfoot, the lugged tread pattern ensures multi-surface traction, making it as functional as it is stylish.
Adding to the collection, the Vans x Nicole McLaughlin Rucksack serves as a climbing chalk bag, constructed from durable recycled canvas and organic cotton. The campaign, styled and shot by McLaughlin herself, highlights the collection through miniature replicas of real-life objects, showcasing the creative and DIY spirit that defines her work.
The Vans x Nicole McLaughlin Slip-On RS will be available in two colorways, Tan and Grey, while the Vans x Nicole McLaughlin Rucksack and Rucksock will be offered in Oatmeal. The collection launches on February 26 via nicolemclaughlin.com, followed by a wider release on February 27 at vans.co.uk and select retailers. The Grey Slip-On RS will be exclusive to nicolemclaughlin.com and vans.co.uk.
