If we’re talking skate shoes, there is none better than Steve Caballero’s Vans Half Cab. It is, to this day, regarded as the single best skate shoe ever made and is still the preference of skaters around the world. The way these took off in the early 90s truly shaped skate shoes. Skaters themselves literally created the Half Cab by cutting down high tops with only scissors and duct tape. They’ve achieved a status that brands could only ever dream of. And through all the wild trends we’ve seen in skate, nothing has stood the test of time like the Half Cab. Now, for its 30th anniversary, the Anaheim-based company will be celebrating the silhouette with two Half Bab ’92 releases; the first of many more to come.
The pair is retooled with subtle premium upgrades like pig suede constructions and minorly tweaked toe cap and ollie patches separated for a more contemporary look. The fit is much more secure as a result of the molded counter, locked-in tongue strap, and heel hold, all of which complement the flexibility provided by the DURACAP underlay. Below, the bottom features a heavier knurl texture at its toe, durable SickStick gum, and the beloved PopCush footbeds.
The Vans Skate Half Cab ’92 is now available in Dress Blues and Taupe, each retailing for $75 a pop — so be sure to head on over to Vans.com to secure your pair today.
