D’Angelo Russell’s First Signature Shoe, the DLO1, Drops May 17 via KICKS CREW

After nearly a decade in the league, NBA All-Star D’Angelo Russell is finally stepping into his own sneaker spotlight. In partnership with Way of Wade and exclusive retail partner KICKS CREW, Russell has officially unveiled his debut signature sneaker, the Way of Wade DLO1, with its first release arriving May 17th.

Titled the “Canvas”, the launch colorway is deeply personal, drawing inspiration from a painting created by Russell’s son. The shoe blends expressive brushstroke patterns with performance-first design, representing Russell’s journey as a father, athlete, and storyteller. “The DLO1 is more than just a performance shoe — it represents my growth, evolution, and personal expression,” said Russell, noting how his creative direction was rooted in legacy and purpose. “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee” — a mantra borrowed from his childhood hero Muhammad Ali — helped guide the design philosophy behind the sneaker.

Russell, who joined Way of Wade in 2019, becomes the brand’s first official signature athlete. The DLO1 cements a milestone for both parties as they look to elevate athlete-driven innovation in performance basketball footwear.
