adidas Rename YEEZY’s Biblical-Titled Releases

If you hadn’t noticed, Ye has been hell-bent on delivering his footwear releases with names tied to religious figures. Israfil, Eliada, and Eremiel to name just a few. But whispers of backlash amongst Muslims and other communities about the commercialization of religion has seemingly forced adidas’ hand in changing the names of some upcoming YEEZY releases. This weekend’s “Carbon” YEEZY 350 was famously changed at the last minute from its pre-established “Asriel” moniker. Now it appears that the entire slate has been wiped of any religious traces, with several name-changes on the way.

The YEEZY QNTM “Ophanim”, which features a light olive marl Primeknit upper, has been renamed to the YEEZY QNTM “Teal Blue”. The YEEZY 700 V3 “Srphym”, which showcases a vibrant yellow patterned Primeknit underneath its eggshell white rubber cage – this model has been renamed the YEEZY 700 V3 “Safflower”.

The highly-anticipated YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 “Eliada” has been relabelled the YEEZY 350 V2 “Sand Taupe” while the equally-anticipated YEEZY 350 V2 “Abez” has been retitled to the YEEZY 350 V2 “Natural”. Furthermore, for the 350, the YEEZY 350 V2 “Yecher”, which features a deep brown Primeknit, with a distinctive deep blue stripe going through the midfoot section of the sneaker is now known as the YEEZY 350 V2 “Fade”. The final sneaker to be renamed is the aforementioned YEEZY 700 V3 “Eremiel”, which has now been dubbed the YEEZY 700 V3 “Clay Brown”.
