Where to Buy the YEEZY 500 High “Tyrian”

Reported earlier this year by multiple sources, the upcoming YEEZY 500 High “Tyrian” is just one of a bevy of YEEZY BOOST releases pegged for 2020 — and the second high-top edition of the 700 to hit the market.

Tyrian, also known as Tyrian Red and Imperial Purple, is a reddish-purple natural dye that’s secreted by several species of predatory sea snails. Its extraction is an ancient process, where the acquisition of the dye involved tens of thousands of snails and substantial labor, and as a result, the dye was highly valued. Naturally, colors varied between blue-reds and purples, but it is modernly reflected in shades ranging from purple to maroon, which is why some early speculative mock-ups also varied.

Today we get a first look at the pair, and it comes by way of an official image (a rarity in this age of leaks). The purple neoprene upper is where the pair gains its nickname and pops through a slew of black, charcoal, and chocolate brown overlays. Tumbled leather serves as the pair’s first overlay, with rich brown suede covering the eyelets, heel, toe, and mudguard trim. Below that, you’ll find a charcoal-brown rubber mudguard and a charcoal rubber outsole. Completing the design is the in-favor toggle lacing system and black neoprene tongues.
