Kanye Shares Preview of Upcoming YEEZY D Rose Alongside a Slew of New Samples
Kanye has always dreamt big. He’s been a visionary from day one. His efforts with Nike was only the beginning of something much bigger, yet Nike laughed Kanye and his list of demands and future plans out the door. Little did they know just how big the College Drop Out could get. It’s thanks to adidas, who both embraced his creative genius and gave complete autonomy in design, that we continue to see Ye explore footwear and fashion design with no strict boundaries. The patience of the Three Stripes is evident in the countless YEEZY samples we’ve seen Kanye and others preview over the years until he gets things just right. Their patience has paid off with the brand raking in $1.3 billion in revenue in 2019 alone — undoubtedly a constant reminder to Nike executives that Ye was ‘the one that got away’.
Speaking of 2019, it was an experimental and pivotal year for YEEZY Brand, having delivered new options in the 700 v3 and YEEZY 380, along with previews of the now-released Quantum and Foam Runner, along with audacious samples in the Scuba and 451. And now, mere months after Kanye unveiled an insane amount of samples for his interview with Forbes, the cultural icon has unveiled a fresh batch of unreleased options of almost every single mainstay in the current product line, including those eye-popping red Foam Runners! But they aren’t the only notable slip-ons that Ye’ unveiled, with teased images at his debut D Rose design (pictured above) that borrows quite heavily from the Yeezy line-up’s current roster. Similar to the clog in shape, the pair bears a visual imprint similar though tweaked quite heavily with an abstract mold. Instead of a smooth finish like that of the aforementioned, the upper is ribbed across its entire construction, a look that could easily be likened to ribs thanks to its bone coloring and intricate cut.
Two other mules were also unveiled, one a clog-like slip with wavy traction underfoot, the other arriving with a dipped-yellow knit shell, and a Jordan Brand-like Eclipse plate at the midfoot. There are also some more colorful options of the 700 v1/v2 in blues, yellows, and oranges, a hint at possible future palates the brand may explore.
