Adidas is set to expand its running lineup with the Adizero EVO SL, a versatile performance model retailing at $150, designed to bring high-quality running tech to a broader audience.
Positioned as a more accessible alternative to the brand's flagship Adizero PRO EVO 1 — the ultra-lightweight shoe that propelled Tola Tamirat to Olympic gold in Paris — the EVO SL arrives with specs that make it competitive in the mid-range performance category.
While it doesn’t offer the feather-light build of the PRO EVO 1, which weighs in at an astonishing 138 grams, the EVO SL’s weight of 224 grams (men’s size 9) is still impressively light, especially for its price point. This modest weight increase, combined with a thicker, more padded mesh upper, provides additional comfort and durability, making it a practical choice for training runs and daily wear.
The Lightstrike Pro midsole, shared with the Adios Pro 3, is key to its performance and is designed to provide exceptional energy return while maintaining a cushioned ride. The EVO SL’s more robust upper construction, as opposed to the synthetic-heavy designs seen on adidas’ high-end models, offers a balance of support and breathability without the elite race-day focus, making it ideal for those looking for a solid, all-around running shoe.
The Adidas Adizero EVO SL will debut in December in various colorways, including new and heritage tones, and will be available in men’s and women’s sizing.
