Since August 1949, adidas has been at the forefront of sport, enabling athletes across the world to achieve feats that had previously been considered impossible. Along the way, the German institution became a powerhouse on the fashion front, balancing a healthy mix between repurposing performance wear and embedding its heritage in all-new products.

In recent memory, the adidas Originals division has shifted the industry multiple times with silhouettes born decades ago on the football pitch, track, and basketball court. The lattermost stage introduced the adidas Campus to the world. Initially known as the Tournament (a model derived from 1971's Greenstar), the silhouette rebranded in the 1980s and has lived many lives since. The latest?: A trendy, care-free experience by the name of the Campus 00s.

Far removed from its predecessor's origins as a high-performing basketball sneaker, the adidas Campus 00s draws inspiration from one of the many communities that eventually adopted the original: skateboarders.

From hip-hop acts to football fanatics, non-athletes helped maintain the Campus relevant well beyond its heyday on the hardwood. Thanks to its low-profile, suede upper, and reliable traction, the sneaker performed well on skateboards. Its array of colors and relatively affordable price tag also made it a compelling option. The Campus 00s keeps this legacy alive, but in a chunkier, more comfortable package.

The Y2K vibes are in full effect on the retro-inspired style.

The adidas Originals team reimagined the classic sneaker with exaggerated proportions, evoking imagery of plush skate shoes from 25 years ago. Premium leather across the upper delivers an elevated, durable build, while terry fabric lining offers a soft, foot-hugging experience for everyday wear. Plush padding on the wide tongue contributes to the comfortable experience.

Campus text on the lateral profile draws a direct through-line to the original model, while the "Off White"-colored chunky midsole reinforces a connection to the past.

The Campus 00s' bold, heritage-inspired design has been approved by fashionable figures across the world. BLACKPINK's Jennie has been one of the shoe's most notable co-signers, showcasing just how versatile the pair is.

The Originals team is currently offering over 100 different styles of the chunky silhouette via adidas.com/Campus. Pairs are available in Men's, Women's, Youth, and Toddler sizing to ensure every member of the family can stay fresh year-round.

Pricing ranges from $55 for the smallest sizes to $110 for Adult versions, making the Campus 00s a budget-friendly option for all. Styling the wide array of colors is made easy thanks to the classic adidas Tracksuits and Skate Pants also available now.

Be on the lookout for seasonal updates to the Campus 00s—including new collaborations with Liberty London, Microsoft's Minecraft, and others.

The design is a visual break from other industry-shifting, low-profile offerings from adidas Originals.
