It appears the adidas has more in store for Derrick Rose’s retro sneaker lineage, with 2021 preparing to bring back one of his most popular pairs of all-time set to re-release in the new year; the adidas D Rose 4 “Brenda”
It’s a sneaker that will again delve into the things that Rose himself holds important: his family and his roots in the city of Chicago — two recurring themes in the D Rose signature series. Shown below is the OG adidas D Rose 4 “Brenda,” which first debuted back in October 2013 and is just one of many from the long line of Brenda-branded releases. It was dedicated to his mother’s fondness for the color red, although it’s unsure whether that came to be before or after her son rose to prominence with the Chicago Bulls.
“My mom means the world to me. She is my motivation to work as hard as I do which is why I love wearing this color of my shoe for her.”
— Derrick Rose, 2013
The colorway also represents the transition of Derrick from his focused, humble, and understated off-court personality to his fierce, attacking, and aggressive on-court playing style. The classic red synthetic leather front half of the shoe features a similar perforated gloss finish, black in the back, and white sole units. The unmistakable bold white Three Stripes branding hits the heels to complete the tribute colorway.
Pairs of the adidas D Rose 4 “Brenda” are expected to arrive early in the new year, though a confirmed release date is yet to be announced.
