Damian Lillard has had better seasons than the one he's currently having with the Milwaukee Bucks, but he continues to deliver on and off-the-court. As one of Adidas' lifetime athletes, the Oakland, Calif. native is set to be linked to the brand for the rest of time. By the end of the year, the duo will release the Dame X (10) signature model, the latest example of its mutual commitment.
Unveiled during Lillard's homecoming last month, the sneaker is Adidas Basketball's latest performance offering. It delivers a much tamer aesthetic than Anthony Edwards' impending AE 2, which the brand leaked in an earnings call. The Dame X isn't too much of a departure from the current Dame 9, with the LIGHTSTRKE cushioning solution reprising its role. A newly-surfaced 'Almost Yellow' ensemble camouflages details across the upper unlike the shoe's 'Core Black' makeover.
Mesh bases are overlaid with plastic stripes along the profiles. Padding at the tongue and around the collar add visual bulk to the model, with 'Core Black' delivering contrast to the 'Almost Yellow' surroundings. Laces and inner lining take on a 'Preloved Ink' hue that's appeared on several Adidas Originals offerings over the years. Underfoot, the robust midsole is complemented by a multi-directional tread pattern that's been proven by #0 himself at the highest level.
Firm release details of the 'Almost Yellow' Dame X haven't been disclosed by the brand, but that's likely to change by the end of summer. Pairs are expected to land via Adidas.com for less than $100.
