The rumors proved true: adidas Football is reintroducing the F50 Spider from 2004 to the market. The iconic design's retro run kicks off with a "Blue Rush/Sky Rush/Tech Indigo" color scheme.
In mid-September, Sam Handy, Senior Vice President of Design & Product for the Three Stripes, took to social media to unveil a Friends & Family-edition F50 Spider Elite boot in honor of Kith's latest project with the brand. This served as a first proper look at the 21-year-old product being modernized with tooling from the current roster of F50 boots. The legendary Italian footballer, Alessandro Del Piero, later teased a remake in promotional material for the adidas Trionda Match Ball. The former Juventus forward was captured wearing a blue-and-black pair that featured details across the upper evoking images of the original F50 Spider run. Official product shots confirm that Del Piero's footwear choice is a proper retro of the beloved design.
Originally launched in 2004, the adidas F50+ Spider is most associated with that year's UEFA Euro tournament. Djibril Cissé and Damien Duff were two of the most prominent players to lace up the eye-catching pair of boots during its launch period.
In comparison to its predecessor, the modern F50 Spider sits atop a SPRINTFRAME 360 plate. Web-like synthetic overlays run the entirety of the upper, which revisits its lace cover from '04. The blue-and-black color scheme hides webbing around the front-half of the boots much more than a similar presentation did on the original release, although future colorways may differ.
The F50 branding on the lateral forefoot abandons its + symbol.
The F50 Spider Elite FG retro is expected to release via adidas.com by February 2026. The pair is priced at $270. Additional color options should launch by May 2026.
