Long before 3M was even considered to adorn footwear, adidas created a runner specifically for the dark of night. They utilized vibrant colors for runners who preferred dawn or dusk runs so that they could safely be seen by passing cars. That sneaker was the adidas Nite Jogger. In 2019, the Three Stripes reimagined the 1970 trainer with modern upgrades including BOOST cushioning tech, lightweight ripstop uppers, and 3M reflective detail for those Dusk-to-dark jogs. And now, after 18 months in the market, the brand has caved in and finally given us a “Sunset” Nite Jogger colorway — a most fitting option for a sneaker designed for after dark.
Like any good Sunset option, its base arrives anchored in jet black, with mesh, ripstop and suede all adorning the dim hue. From there, the brand’s new purple reflective finish — as seen on the debut Ultra BOOST 20 — arrives across the Three Stripes, rear and forefoot. All of these dark tones allow the pair’s champion aspect to explode off the sneaker; an orange-to-blue gradient painted BOOST midsole that mimics a Summer sunset. Capping off the design is a jet black rubber outsole, and white branding on the tongue.
