adidas Bring Back 80s Adjustable Midsole Tech with the Galaxy Spezial
Weird Science.
The OG adidas Galaxy is something to be savored. Released in the peak of weird 80s tech — that somehow made its way to sneakers — the midsole-plugs enabled the wearer to adjust and vary the absorption system. At the time, it was legendary. But the silhouette quickly grew out of the gimmick, ditching the tech on later installments of the series. Now, a mere 34 years later, the Three Stripes will be remastering the OG as part of its Spezial line.
Arriving true to its OG white, sail, tan and metallic silver colorway, the pair arrives with heightened toe overlays, streamlined lace overlays, and reduced heel height, but pretty much keeps the OG vibe intact. It even arrives with it’s OG plug tool and a copy of the original ’80s how-to manual. Needless to say, this is one for the adidas purists.
Grab an official look at the plug-soled adidas Galaxy Spezial below, and expect pairs to rollout at select Three Stripes stockists like SNS and directly on adidas.com on June 21st for $130.
